Q. Do you know where I can purchase one second hand?

Q. Is the next version of LIFE available yet?
A. Not quite. At the moment LIFE 2 is evolving and a date for when the units will go on sale cannot yet be confirmed. As soon as a date is known, all those who have contacted Technomage™ and registered an interest will be informed before the units appear in the music stores. For everybody else, the release date will be made known on this site and through the relevant press. (return to top)
Q. Will the new version be the same as the first version?
A. Although the design concept will remain the same, LIFE 2 will have greatly improved abilities and interfacing possibilities, whilst still retaining its hands on desirability. (return to top)
Q. I have a modular system, will LIFE integrate into it?
A. One of the philosophies here at Technomage™ is to explore all possibilities. There has been quite a lot of interest in a 'modular' version of LIFE.
LIFE 2 will be available in several formats. Initially it will follow the concept of the first incarnation of LIFE in the form of a hand held device followed by other versions, the rack mount variant being an obvious contender.

Q. How can I find out what LIFE sounds like?
A. Sound samples, short tracks and user demos will be featured here (at a later date). LIFE was reviewed (when first released) in several publications, one of which 'Future Music' had two tracks on its cover CD featuring LIFE (tracks 9 and 10). If you want to track down a copy it was issue 58 - July 1997. One of the best albums I've heard, which integrates LIFE seamlessly into its sonic magic is 'auto://genous' by LONGSTONE (Spaceage Recordings: orbit_021cd). A track from this album was featured on another 'Future Music' cover CD (track 4), issue 96 - June 2000.

Q. I hear the new version has a 'sequencing filter' What is that?
A. The interfacing on the new versions of LIFE enable you to 'plug and play' by connecting jack to jack on individual LIFE 2 units or between several LIFE 2 units. The multi-filter in LIFE 2 can be stepped using the appropriate touch switch (on the control surface) or through one of the jack connections. This is where the flexibility of the new LIFE 2 becomes apparent, either one of the on-board clock (or divide clock) sources can step the filter or alternatively some external source can be used (or another LIFE 2), creating some very interesting filtering effects. You should also note that external signals can be input into LIFE 2 for treatment by the filter (and other) processes in LIFE 2. (return to top)
Q. How much will a LIFE cost me?
A. There is no figure to quote yet, but rest assured - the cost will be kept as low as possible. (return to top)
Q. Can I pay a deposit to make sure I'll get a LIFE?
A. Quite often a deposit is offered to secure a new LIFE when available. TechnoMage's philosophy (yes, another one!) is to ask for payment when the goods are available, not before. As before, if you have registered an interest with TechnoMage, you will be informed when LIFE 2 is available for purchase. (return to top)
Q. Do I purchase directly from Technomage™ or do you have a dealer in my country?
A. All of the original LIFE units were purchased directly from TechnoMage. Initially the new versions will be sold by Technomage™ to those who have registered an interest. Shipping is not a problem - if you have a preferred method it will be used if possible (own mailing account etc).

Q. Will Technomage™ custom build a LIFE into a (you choose) for me?
A. You would be surprised at some of the requests received for LIFE. The short answer is to ask and Technomage™ will try and accommodate (details will have to be worked out, if proposal is acceptable).

A. Adaptable, innovative - if we think it is possible and you are willing to pay, why not ask? You never know, maybe we have already (thought of) made it or know somebody who has. Anything is possible. (return to top)
